Oceanside Civic Association Meeting Minutes 12/14/05

Minutes for General Meeting of the

Oceanside Civic Association (OCA)

Wednesday, December 14, 2005

 

 

*Meeting started at 7:45 P.M. at the Oceanside School #8 with the Pledge of

Allegiance.

 

*President, Raymond Pagano, introduced himself and welcomed and thanked all who

joined us. He introduced Linda Reed who was representing Councilman Anthony Santino’s office.  Raymond spoke about the OCA and what we hope to achieve for the community.  He also asked for volunteers to join up for committees.

 

 

            Mark Greenberg – Membership

                        *Spoke about Neighborhood Watch Program and how he started it on his

                          block.

           

 

            Steven Edmonson – Civic Committee

                        *no report submitted

 

*President Raymond Pagano introduced special guest Nassau County Police Detective     Charles and 4th Preceint P.O.P Unit Officers Mouldes and Condon.  They spoke about the    hot issue on Long Island, home invasions.  Items under this issue included:

                        - Home Alarm Systems            

                        - Keep Cell Phones By Your Bed

- Change Up Your Routine So As Not To Be Predictable

- Set Up A Community Watch Block Program

- Give Invaders Whatever They Want If Your Home Is Robbed

-         A Question And Answer Session Followed By Very Important Information Distributed By the Nassau County Police      

 

*President Raymond Pagano then thanked the officers and introduced the next set of guest speakers. 

 

*The next issue involved the recycling plant permit filed by Serota for the former Gator Recycling Facility on Brown Court in Oil City.  Representing the group along with Mr.Serota were his attorneys and expert.  They stressed the plant would only take in construction material and demolition debris.  Along with a detailed plan drawing illustrating the renovating of the facility, they also stressed that the property has already been approved for such activity along with D.E.C approval.  A zoning Board Meeting on this permit is coming up on January 4th of 2006.

 

*Lastly, all were thanked again for coming and for joining the Oceanside Civic

 Association.
